The Youth FX program is celebrating its eighth year of inspiring and empowering youth in Albany’s under-resourced neighborhoods through an understanding and hands-on exploration of the creative and technical aspects of digital film making. In that time the program has grown from a four week summer program, into a full year program with a 6 week summer intensive, after-school programs at Albany High School and Albany Girls Leadership High School and youth working as pre-professional filmmakers creating independent films and documentaries for local non-profits. Overall we impacted more than 325 youth with our programs and workshops locally, and thousands more through our film screenings at film festivals across the country and around the world.
