WCAA News

Tabling… WCAA has been tabling, and tabling, this year, and last year. Meeting. And Greeting. We have met hundreds of people who are excited about WCAA and want to see this station go up on the air! Now, we need some cash to make this happen! If you care about a diversity of perspectives on the media in Albany, SUPPORT WCAA RIGHT NOW.

We have two separate funds right now: the Membership Campaign and the Transmitter Fund.

The Membership Campaign aims to raise $3,000 by the end of the year. Membership dues pay for music licensing, help pay the utility bills and provide essential support for our all-volunteer staff and programmers. All programmers are members! Membership dues will also help us pay for organizational support from Prometheus Radio Project. The Membership Campaign needs to raise $600 right now to pay for licensing to get our webradio station on the air, a first step towards getting the broadcast station up and running. If 20 people sign up for memberships at the $30 standard level, we will be ready to broadcast online: you will be able to stream WCAA on your computer or mobile phone within the month!

The Transmitter Fund exclusively supports costs related to the antenna raising and necessary studio equipment.

Please donate, and please share the donation link.
We’re ready to do this, but we need a war chest!
Your support right now will make a tremendous difference!

THANK YOU, CITY OF ALBANY!
WCAA is grateful to the Capital City Fund of the City of Albany for a grant of $2000 for a youth-broadcasting workshop to take place in 2016. More news about that in January.

GET INVOLVED!
If you’d like to get involved with WCAA, our next public meeting will take place on October 26th at Becker & Becker, 148 Central Ave. [FB link] Click here to register.

We also have a backlog of paper signup and donation records from all that tabling, and need some data entry assistance. If you’re able to help, leave a voicemail at 463-2222 or email lex [at] grandarts.org.
