This is a season of transformation at Grand Street Community Arts!
It’s a process that began at our Board Retreat this Summer, and continues this Fall: Grand Street Community Arts has adopted new by-laws, revised our board and committee structure, and began to hone down our activities so we can accomplish our unique and essential task to save St. Anthony’s.
During our Board Retreat this August, we tasked our business to five Committees: Building, Finance, Fundraising, Volunteer, and WCAA Working Group. These Committees meet monthly and participation is open to Non-Board Members. If you are interested in getting involved with a committee, give us a call at 463-2222. (Please leave us a voice message.)
This season, thanks to support from the New York State Council on the Arts, GSCA will be conducting an intensive Board Development retreat with the New York Council on Non-Profits. NYCON “develops and promotes an effective and vibrant charitable nonprofit community throughout New York State.” We are grateful to be working with them! Our building has closed for two years: we need guidance to draft a new revenue and business plan after these two years of crisis.
We are glad to welcome two new Board members who will be joining us for this process with NYCON. Otis Jackson is a neighbor who has been an active volunteer at GSCA for the past two years. You may have met Otis tabling for WCAA at TulipFest or LarkFest this year. Otis is a treasure of the neighborhood and we are honored to have him share his light with us. Moses Nagel is the parent of a YouthFX student and a freelance media professional himself. When Moses isn’t flying around the world recording location sound at sports competitions, he runs a small organic farm in Petersburg, NY!
