Winter 2010

Vacant Lot Project
Groups and Individuals

It’s time to get creative! GSCA is inviting proposals for project on the vacant lots we have identified as potential sites for transformation. If a church, neighborhood group, group of artists, an academic institution, garden club or other community group is interested, we’ll provide you with a list of lots, a simple Request for Proposals format and some guidelines. GSCA will pick the most promising proposals and present them to the city or other property owner and we will help facilitate the transformation process.

YouthARTS
After-School Art Club Visiting Artist Project Leader
After-School Art Club Assistant

Are you interested in working with kids? Do you like the arts? We are looking for dedicated individuals who are interested in working with kids at the Grand Street Arts Club, an after-school arts club for kids ages 4-12. Our mission is to support the creativity and imagination of children. In return you will learn valuable skills working with children and how to run a successful arts program for children. The After-School Arts Club began this fall and runs through the academic school year, Mondays-Thursdays, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

BoardedUP
BoardedUP Artists

We are beginning a new BoardedUP series starting in March and are looking for new artists to paint a piece for a window on the side of the former St. Anthony’s church, which is now Grand Street Community Arts Center. Grand Street Community Arts provides each artist with a plywood board. Artists are responsible for supplying their own paints and dropping the board off at the Arts Center on the designated date. Each board will be a donation to Grand Street Community Arts and will be featured for one month on the side of our Arts Center and sold at the 3rd Annual BoardedUP Silent Auction in the fall of 2010.

Youth Organics is part of the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program and we are hiring teenagers (14-18 years old) for our spring and summer programs.
